"Today, we need a nation of Minutemen, citizens who are not only prepared to take arms, but citizens who regard the preservation of freedom as the basic purpose of their daily life and who are willing to consciously work and sacrifice for that freedom"     John F. Kennedy

PURPOSE
Central Texas Concealed Handgun Training provides the Texas Department of Public Safety (TxDPS) required classroom training and firearm qualification that students need to obtain a Texas License to Carry (LTC).

Obtaining a permit to carry a handgun in the State of Texas requires completion of the Texas DPS course, qualifying with a handgun at the range, and passing a 25 question test. The applicant then applies and pays a fee to the State which completes a background check and completes the issuance of the license. That fee is different from the fee you pay for this course.

You can review the current Texas Handgun Laws and selected statutes 2013-2014 {CHL-16} by clicking the link below:

COURSE OBJECTIVE
To train and qualify students for submission to the Texas Licensed to Carry qualification.  Upon completion, students will have the following materials required to submit their application:

  • 6 Hours of classroom instruction certification for completed classroom curriculum and firearm qualification test.
  • TxDPS CHL Application
  • TxDPS and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) approved fingerprint
  • Required Passport Photographs or Texas Drivers License

LTC courses are not intended to train students how to shoot a firearm.  The qualification test portion of the course is required by the State of Texas to demonstrate your ability to safely and properly handle and shoot a handgun. Additional classes available include "Basic Handgun" and "Basic Home Safety" instruction.
